A Traditional Thai Restaurant Opened in Brooklyn

Just a few years ago, immigrants from Thailand and Thai food lovers had only one option: go to Queens for lunch. Today, Elmhurst’s Thai Town remains the center of Thai cuisine in the Big Apple. However, the restaurant is not alone, there has been a boom in Thai restaurants and cafes in New York City in the last decade.

And now another institution has opened in Brooklyn. It’s a restaurant with the fancy name Mondayoff by Plant Love House in Kensington. But it’s not exactly a new institution for New York City. Previously, this restaurant, or rather its predecessor, Plant Love House, was located in Prospect Heights and even earned the honorable name “Cheap Eats” among locals. But it later closed; the reasons are not known.

The restaurant’s new location won’t offer Thai food lovers anything particularly new. The menu remains the same, with only a few new items added that, according to the restaurant’s owners, are “the latest trend” in Thailand.

These include a sour and spicy tamarind soup with pork ribs served in a hot pot and grilled chicken thighs Korate wrapped in pandan leaf with spices.
